'Tis the reason for the season, no not a Jewish baby/God incarnate, but the actual 12/25 holiday in the USA. So we're going with "Christmas" rather than the generic "holidays" (but that's a whole different topic for a different date). HighBird Productions is happy to give the gift of some of the best (and worst) alternative Christmas music.
If you're like us, you can do the strip mall/
coffee shop/DMV Christmas music for about a day. For the rest of december you want to go postal on anything remotely looking like a gingerbread house, no matter which list some jolly white haired diabetic puts you on.

It's a good thing for you (and us) that Christmas music didn't stop in the 1950's. There's been updated versions of our favorite Christmas classics along with fresh new additions to add to the songbook. Don't get us wrong, N'sync, Bright Eyes, and George Michael should have never made any Christmas songs (after what they've done, the shouldn't be allowed to make snow angels). We're simply going to go through some of our favorite Christmas song alternatives that will get you out of your Scrooge-funk. So add a little more "nog" to your eggnog and enjoy the Christmas tunes.

Sleigh Ride-Relient K
An upbeat tune that takes us back to a simpler time. That time is 2003.
Cold December- Matt Costa
Safe to rock to your next indie, mustache ridden, ugly-sweaters-used-as-dresses-for-hot-hipster-chicks party.
Magic Fountain (Kissy Sell OutЎЇs Dark Crystal Version)- Art vs. Science
Play with caution... may cause awkward dance parties around the fireplace. Yes, we are speaking from experience. Some memories can't be erased.
Holiday- Vampire Weekend
Makes us think of Christmas time in 70 degrees & sunny Southern California
Star of Wonder- Sufjan Stevens
Did I Make You Cry On Christmas- Sufjan Stevens
If you don't get down with Sufjan, I don't know what to tell ya.
Christmas Time- The Darkness
Celebrate your favorite time of the year while melting faces with your insane air guitar solos. Who cares if you have a mouth full of ham and Jello fruit salad.
Albums
A Charlie Brown Christmas -Vince Guaraldi Trio

A Charlie Brown Christmas -Vince Guaraldi Trio
This album obviously a classic- We get down to O Tannenbaum. Warning, do not play album around 4:20. You will be contemplating your life's achievements, goals, and failures for hours, buyer beware.
A Motown Christmas
Here we see the Jackson five doing what they do best. Singing about what Joe Jackson tells them to sing about. Check out Someday At Christmas- Jackson 5

now the worst...
The Calendar Hung itself- Bright Eyes
Why Connor? Why???
*note he does make up for it (Here)
This Christmas- Christina Aguilera
Jingle Bells- Trey Songz & Flo Rida
The GAP is jingling both of these guys' bells all the way to the bank.
I'm sad to say that it does indeed get much worse.

So all in all enjoy the last few days of Christmas with some new tunes! Remember, the key to a swell Christmas is a positive attitude. That and a ton of your "fun" aunts eggnog. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
